Problem
Xcaret Group owns amusement parks and hotels in the Riviera Maya, one problem they noticed was that visitors took about 2 to 3 hours to move between excursions. They wanted to provide a holistic experience to their visitors and keep adding value to them even while they were commuting.
Solution
Designed an app that provides entertainment on board and allows hosts and park visitors to personalize, choose and buy their photos while commuting from point A to point B.
After conducting user research, we found that about 45% of our visitors use their mobile phones to view and edit pictures they took in the park. Other activities found were playing videogames and read recommendations about attractions they can enjoy in the area. Another interesting finding was that visitors were more nostalgic while returning to their hotel and their desire to purchasing a photo from Xcaret increased while they were on the bus.
We collaborated with the tours department and the photo department to create a new product. The photo department wanted to increase sales and avoid losing potential customers. The tours department planned to purchase and customize a new bus fleet, and they wanted to take advantage of the technology they plan to incorporate. We suggested creating an entertainment and photo editing app that visitors can use on the bus without consuming their phone's battery, memory and allowing them to engage with the park ecosystem, theme, and latest attractions.
